Black Cat Growers

As someone who had grown food since I was old enough to pluck a carrot our of my grandfather’s garden, I decided to remove most ornamental plants and all grass from my front yard and replant with food. I don’t eat grass and it wasted too many resources. My yard is now a lush green property with an interplanting of shrubs and a few non-edible plants that provide shade for the veggies in the hot summer sun.

As I have a tiny south facing lot, the front yard is dedicated to vegetable and herb growing and the north facing back yard is for larger plants including papaya and banana trees. Blueberries may be the next addition. I also keep a small greenhouse to provide peppers, tomatoes and other warm weather foodstuffs through the cooler months. I have lots to share and welcome a new outlet.

I grow all my plants, mostly heirloom proven varieties that do well in the are but have been known to experiment with growing hybrid varieties that might do well, or not, in Florida. Non GMO. No pesticides or herbicides. I compost a small amount for myself on the property.

I also have been preserving food since I was old enough to be let around boiling water. I offer many organic jams. jellies and other preserved items.
